Kochi: Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas sustained severe injuries in an accident on Sunday.

According to Mathrubhumi News, Thomas fell from the stage while attending a dance event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

Ernakulam district Congress Committee president Mohammed Shiyas informed Mathrubhumi that Thomas had blood clots on her head.

However, he added that she was conscious and that the injury was not considered serious. Shiyas also highlighted that there were inadequate safety measures at the stage where the event was organized.

The incident happened during a Guinness World Record attempt at the Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where 12,000 dancers were performing.

Thomas fell from the edge of the stage onto the concrete floor, reportedly sustaining a head injury in the fall. Meanwhile, reports from the hospital indicate that a medical team is examining the Congress leader, and she will be undergoing various tests.

Minister Saji Cheriyan was among the dignitaries attending the event. Thomas was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
