Kozhikode: Due to high airfare rates for Haj flights from Kozhikode International Airport, 516 pilgrims from Kozhikode will be shifted to Kannur International Airport, said AP Abdullakkutty, Chairman of the Central Haj Committee.
Speaking to reporters about the situation, Abdullakkutty mentioned that around 3,000 pilgrims have requested a change of airport. If more applications are received, the pilgrims will be selected through a lottery system.
He explained that there is a significant difference in airfares between smaller airports, and the increase in fares is beyond the control of the Haj Committee or the government.
