Kalpetta: Pointing to the homes of friends and neighbours, the children of the families once asked, "Will we ever have a house like this?" The parents, unable to answer, were left distressed. Now, they no longer face this struggle. They have their own homes where they can sleep in peace, unaffected by the rain, sun, or cold.

The efforts to support families experiencing the hardship of not having homes are being carried out by Mathrubhumi and the K Chittilappilly Foundation as part of the ‘Ente Veedu’ initiative. The vision of the ‘Ente Veedu’ initiative is to build houses for 1,000 deserving families selected from different districts.

Homes handed over to 25 families
As part of the initiative, homes were handed over to 25 families in Wayanad on Wednesday. The event, held at the Sacred Heart Jubilee Hall in Kalpetta, saw Mathrubhumi Managing Director MV Shreyams Kumar and K. Chittilappilly Foundation Project Head and Joint Executive Director B Jayaraj handing over the house keys to the beneficiaries.

MV Shreyams Kumar, who chaired the event, said that the ‘Ente Veedu’ initiative was not for personal or political gain. "This is an initiative that touches the heart. There is immense joy in seeing the happiness and satisfaction of those receiving homes. We must never forget our duty towards society. Giving something back to the community that has nurtured us is a responsibility," he noted.

Foundation’s charitable approach
B Jayaraj highlighted that the foundation's approach is to engage in charitable activities without publicity. He added, "It is through the collaboration of MV Shreyams Kumar and the Mathrubhumi team that the ‘Ente Veedu’ initiative has been successfully carried out. No one but Mathrubhumi could have taken on and executed such initiatives so effectively."

Wayanad district panchayat chief Samshad Marakkar, Kalpetta Municipal Chairperson Adv. TJ Isaac, and Sultan Bathery K.C. Overseas Education Director Jason P Mathew also spoke at the event.
