
Kaniyambetta (Wayanad): Tears trickled down the eyes of Jubaria-Shamsudheen couple in Wayanad’s Kaniyambetta, when they received the key of their home, the first house collectively built by K Chittilappilly Foundation and Mathrubhumi as part of its ‘Ente Veedu’ mission.
The dream-come-true moment for the family happened on Thursday when the house key was handed over to them literally became a key of hope.
“Now we don’t have to fear gusty winds and rains. For over three years we were in a shanty shed. We have no words to express our gratitude to K Chittilappilly Foundation and Mathrubhumi,” the couple said.
Family members and the locals witnessed the cherishing memory of the couple as they finally get a proper shelter.
The house key was handed over by Mathrubhumi deputy editor PP Sasindran. Regional manager C Manikandan, Books manager TV Raveendran and Wayanad bureau chief AK Sreejith were present.
The house has two bed rooms, a hall, kitchen, toilet and sit out. This is the first house handed over to the prospective beneficiaries of Ente Veedu mission worth Rs 40 crore.
The vision of K Chittilappilly Foundation and Mathrubhumi is to to build houses for 1,000 deserving families selected from different districts.
A total of 13 beneficiaries were selected and Rs 52 lakhs was granted for the first phase of the project. Rs 4 lakh each will be distributed for building houses.
