Thiruvananthapuram: With e-stamp becoming mandatory for all the registrations in the State from June second week, the Kerala Government is stopping the printing of conventional stamp papers.
Earlier, e-stamps were introduced only for registrations above 1 Lakh rupees. From the second week of June, all transactions below that will also be done using e-stamps.
The Kerala Government’s goal is to become a complete e-stamp State by 2025. To achieve the same, the authorities are planning to introduce e-stamps for non-registration transactions like certificates of testimony as well in the next phase.
People who plan to register can make transactions with the help of vendors from the 'Pearl' portal of the Registration Department. To complete the registration process, applicants can visit the portal and select their vendor from the list of approved vendors for each region. They can then wait for their vendor to login and make the payment to receive their e-stamp.
This new change would not affect the work and income of the vendors; they can continue their work after installing a computer and printer at their office. Vendors would not need to keep printed stamps or bundles of paper piled up in their offices. Authorities have also clarified that the 50 lakh stamp papers that are in stock will be issued for other purposes.
Following this decision, no new order has been placed with the press at Nashik this year to print stamp papers.
