Kalpetta: The rescue operation in the landslide disaster area of Wayanad is in progress, utilizing all available equipment. However, adverse weather conditions, building debris, boulders, and accumulated soil are complicating the efforts. Authorities are seeking the help of drones and other technologies, as hundreds of bodies are yet to be found.
It is estimated that all the survivors from Mundakkai have been rescued, and only deceased bodies remain. A decision has been made to bring the drone used in the Shiroor disaster to assist in the Wayanad landslide rescue operations. The authorities have announced that this drone will be deployed from Friday to recover bodies buried in the soil.
Thermal scanning and drone inspections will be conducted. The state government has also sought assistance from retired Major General Indrabalan's team. Under his leadership, the IBOD (Identification of Buried Objects Device) will be used to locate those buried underground. This technique was previously employed in Shiroor under his leadership, where it successfully pinpointed the exact location of Arjun's lorry. Additionally, area mapping of the landslide zone is being prepared.
