New Delhi: Disrespect was shown to the body of an employee of Kerala House who died while on duty. The Resident Commissioner prevented the body from being kept for public and other staff to pay homage.

Kerala House staff Geetha, a native of Palakkad, had died of a heart attack while on duty on Friday night. Around 11 am on Saturday, the body was brought to Kerala House for the public and other staff to pay respect.

When the staff tried to take the body out of the ambulance, Resident Commissioner Punit Kumar stopped them. He stated that there was an order form the Chief Minister against keeping the body for the public to pay homage. Punit Kumar suggested that the body be taken to the back side of Kerala House.

As the Kerala House staff rejected this, an argument broke out between the staff and the resident commissioner. The employees had brought Geetha’s body to Kerala House after procuring permission from the Chief Minister.

During the argument, Geetha’s body was kept at Kerala House for around 20 minutes for the public to pay homage. After embalming, Geetha’s body will be brought to her native via flight.
