Kochi: Sacred Facts, a media conclave under the aegis of ‘Mathrubhumi’ concluded at the Gokulam Convention Centre in Kaloor here on Sunday. 

Mathrubhumi Managing Director M.V Shreyams Kumar during the Presidential address said that some forces are trying to dent the credibility of mainstream media. He also expressed his concerns over the rampant lawsuits against media houses.
 
Renowned journalist and columnist of ‘The Washington Post’, Rana Ayyub said that media houses are only highlighting the concerns of a section of people. She specifically noted the ignorance towards the plight faced by journalists in Kashmir and Manipur.

R. Rajagopal, Editor-at-Large of ‘The Telegraph’, Kolkata, who gave the keynote address on the topic ‘Facts in an age of rage and outrage’ said that he is not a neutral journalist.

Amidst the multi-faceted threats looming over press freedom, prominent media personalities gathered to discuss media persecution by the government and propagate authentic facts without being caught up in the flood of fake news. Open debates and counterarguments on varied topics happened in five sessions.

The event had the participation of renowned investigative journalist cum author Josy Joseph and founder of Confluence Media, Leena Gita Raghunath journalist Nidheesh M.K, data researcher Srinivas Kodali, data journalism expert Devadas Rajaram, Boom Live senior editor, Adrija Bose, UL Technology Solutions (ULTS) CEO Murali Gopalan, managing director of Flowers TV and editor-in-chief of 24 News  R. Sreekandan Nair, news director of The Fourth Digital Media Platform B. Sreejan, journalist and political analyst Venkitesh Ramakrishnan, editor-in-chief of The News Minute and Dhanya Rajendran, prominent digital media figures Shaz Mohammad, Shareeq Shamsudeen, and Karthik Murali.
