Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 9,931 new Covid cases on Monday, informed health department in a press conference. With 58 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 15,408. Test positivity rate was recorded at 11.08.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Malappuram – 1615, Kozhikode - 1022, Thrissur - 996, Ernakulam - 921, Palakkad - 846, Kollam – 802, Thiruvananthapuram - 700, Kannur - 653, Kasaragod – 646, Alappuzha - 613, Kottayam - 484, Wayanad – 247, Pathanamthitta - 239, and Idukki – 147.
A total of 89,654 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,54,31,248 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
31 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 9,202 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 632 patients remains unidentified.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Malappuram – 1589, Kozhikode - 998, Thrissur - 985, Ernakulam - 896, Palakkad - 411, Kollam – 797, Thiruvananthapuram - 678, Kannur - 553, Kasaragod – 628, Alappuzha - 602, Kottayam - 460, Wayanad – 233, Pathanamthitta - 232, and Idukki – 140.
66 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 19 were from Kannur, 10 from Kasaragod, 8 each from Thrissur, Kozhikode and Wayanad, 3 each from Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam, 2 from Palakkad and 1 each from Kottayam and Idukki.
Meanwhile, 13,206 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1132, Kollam - 975, Pathanamthitta - 447, Alappuzha - 605, Kottayam - 539, Idukki - 196, Ernakulam - 1197, Thrissur - 1429, Palakkad - 799, Malappuram - 2504, Kozhikode - 1718, Wayanad - 426, Kannur - 682 and Kasaragod - 557.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,21,708 in the state. 30,33,258 people recovered from the disease so far.
4,06,804 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,82,081 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 24,723 people are in hospitals. 2137 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
There are 83 local bodies with TPR below 5; 384 local bodies with TPR between 5-10, 362 local bodies with TPR between 10-15 and 205 local bodies with TPR above 15.
