Kollam: Former Minister Shibu Baby John criticized the government for hiding details of RSP local secretary who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kollam. He noted that the Chief Minister did not reveal this new case in Kollam while addressing the media on Thursday.

“The RSP leader is under treatment in hospital. On Thursday, the CM told mediapersons that no positive cases were reported in Kollam. But unofficial reports claim that over 4 people tested positive for coronavirus in Kollam,” said Shibu Baby John.

“I phoned the RSP leader who tested positive for the disease. His sample was collected for the test on April 28. It was on Wednesday night, his test results turned positive. But the officials did not report this case. Sources revealed that many districts, including Idukki, have been hiding the details of positive cases. I have no idea who is hiding the details from the Chief Minister. Are they worried about Kerala’s achievements in COVID-19 prevention or planning to ease the reopening of beverages outlets on May 4?" asked the RSP leader.

He pointed out that the government has committed a grave mistake against the COVID-19 affected RSP leader’s family.

“The RSP leader has an elderly father and bedridden aunt at home. His wife also was suffering and she lacks immunity. No health officials collected her sample to confirm the disease. Such a lapse is not expected from a democratic government. Action must be taken against the officials who have hidden the COVID-19 cases from the Chief Minister. If no action is taken against them, we won’t be convinced with the Chief Minister’s words,” added Shibu Baby John.
