Coronavirus: 20 people in isolation in Pathanamthitta, Kollam

Pathanamthitta: After five tested positive for coronavirus infection, 20 people were admitted to isolation wards in Pathanamthitta and Kollam. The health department opened state call centres which operates for 24 hours to handle emergency situation in Pathanamthitta.

The state call centre numbers are as follows: 0471-2309250, 2309251, 2309252

People can contact the call centre to clear queries and give information.

On Sunday, health  minister KK Shailaja informed that five people from a family including three returnees from Italy tested positive for coronavirus infection. It is for the first time, such a high number of cases are reported in the state.

At the same time, the health department initiated action to trace over 2000 people who had contact with the infected.

Co-passengers of the family who travelled in two flights of Qatar Airways namely QR-126 Venice-Doha flight and QR-514 Doha-Kochi flight should be traced. The health minister directed all people in the state who travelled in the two flights to contact the district control room immediately.

Meanwhile, 15 people including two women were admitted at various hospitals in Pathanamthitta. Two people are under observation at Aadoor taluk hospital and 9 others are at Pathanamthitta general hospital.

Health department assumed that 59 people made close contact with the Coronavirus infected family from Italy. Lab reports of the people under observation in Pathanamthitta are expected on Monday.

The authority ordered to postpone all public functions and weddings at Pathanamthitta district in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak. The district collector declared three days long holidays for all educational institutions in the district. At the same time, pre-scheduled exams will be conducted without failure.

In Kollam, 5 people with suspected symptoms were admitted at isolation ward in Parippally medical college.
