The Kerala government has amended the order pertaining to the undertaking in writing (consent) submitted along with the application for a job under the Compassionate Employment Scheme.
Earlier, widow/widower, son, daughter, father/mother, and unmarried sister/unmarried brother (If the employee is unmarried) of the deceased who applied for a job under the job scheme need to submit an undertaking in writing (consent that the person will maintain the welfare of other dependent family members. However, with the new amendment father/mother of the deceased does not have to give that undertaking in writing.
It may be noted that the government recently introduced a new rule regarding the Compassionate Employment Scheme. According to that salary of those who were appointed on a compassionate basis and failed to protect their dependents will be partially withheld. The government will cut 25% of the basic salary and distribute it to deserving dependents.
The dependents widow/widower, father, and mother should be given welfare for their entire life. While son, daughter, unmarried sister/unmarried brother need to be given welfare till their age of maturity.
