Kottayam: According to the draft report prepared by a committee appointed by the state government, the age limit for compassionate appointments will be set at 13 years at the time of the deceased's passing. Those below this age will be eligible for relief money only.
Meanwhile, organisations of employees in various services are reportedly not in favour of such a decision. They are likely to hold discussions on the matter on May 10.
Only families falling under a certain income bracket are eligible to apply for compassionate appointments or for relief money. The total annual income of the dependents should not be more than Rs 8 lakhs. The income certificate of the family shall be procured from the revenue department within one year of the employee’s death. And also those who are eligible for appointments, but do not want jobs, can apply for relief money.
