Thiruvananthapuram: The Orthodox faction sharply criticised Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the church dispute issue.

Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros Metropolitan said it was unfortunate that the was CM acting as the spokesperson of one particular group. What the CM said about the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was baseless and untruthful. It is extremely unfortunate that the CM criticised the Church, he said. 

Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros Metropolitan was responding to Pinrayi Vijayan’s statement that the Orthodox Church was not ready for a compromise.

“The CM has the constitutional responsibility to implement the Supreme Court order. We will resist all attempts to use the church dispute for profit. The CM’s statements can only be taken as a challenge against the law of the land,” said the Metropolitan.
