
Chennai: Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to train services in the Chennai Central and Arakkonam sections due to essential engineering work. From 11.10 pm to 6:40 am on November 19 and 26, 2024 (7 hours and 30 minutes), there will be a line and signal block between Basin Bridge and Vysarpadi Jiva railway stations. Hence, commuters are advised to note these changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
These adjustments will affect several express train services, including diversions and changes to scheduled halts.
Below are the details of the changes in the train pattern:
Diversion of Express trains
1. Indore to Kochuveli Superfast Express (Train No. 22645)
- Date of diversion: November 18 and 25, 2024
- Diversion details: The train will be diverted to run via Korukkupet, Vysarpadi Jiva and Perambur, bypassing the Dr MGR Chennai Central station.
- New stoppage: Perambur at 11.25 pm (Arr.) / 11.30 pm (Dep.)
2. Dhanbad to Alappuzha Express (Train No. 13351)
- Date of diversion: November 18 and 25, 2024
- Diversion details: This train will also be diverted via Korukkupet, Vysarpadi Jiva and Perambur, skipping Dr MGR Chennai Central.
- New stoppage: Perambur at 11.35 pm (Arr.) / 11:40 pm (Dep.)
3. Alappuzha to Dhanbad Express (Train No. 13352)
- Date of diversion: November 21 and 28, 2024
- Diversion details: This train will run via Perambur, Vysarpadi Jiva and Korukkupet, bypassing Dr MGR Chennai Central.
- New stoppage: Perambur at 9.55 pm (Arr.) / 10.05 pm (Dep.)
4. Kochuveli to Korba Superfast Express (Train No. 22648)
- Date of diversion: November 21 and 28, 2024
- Diversion details: The train will be diverted via Perambur, Vysarpadi Jiva and Korukkupet, skipping Dr MGR Chennai Central.
- New stoppage: Perambur at 11.15 pm (Arr.) / 11.25 pm (Dep.)
5. Palakkad to Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express (Train No. 22652)
- Date of diversion: November 19 and 26, 2024
- Diversion details: The train will be diverted to run via Dindigul, Villupuram, Chennai Egmore and Dr MGR Chennai Central, skipping stops at Karur, Mohanur, Namakkal, Rasipuram, Salem, Morappur, Jolarpettai, Gudiyattam, Katpadi, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur and Perambur.
- New stoppages: The train will now halt at Tiruchchirappalli Jn, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Chennai Egmore.
