Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday stated that recommending a CBI probe in the solar rape case was a natural course of action and has no political intention in it.
The state government never took the stance that no case will be recommended for CBI probe, he added. If the victim’s plea demanding CBI probe into the case citing no progress in police investigation is not considered, that would be severely criticised. The government has moved as per the request of the victim, he added.
The report submitted by the probe commission revealed the ordeal of the victim. The plea for CBI probe was obtained while the police investigation into the case was in progress. Following this, the government recommended CBI probe, CM further stated.
Responding to the question whether the move was a revenge against the Oommen Chandy government that recommended CBI probe in the Lavalin case, Vijayan denied it. He added that CBI probe in Lavalin case was a unilateral decision by the Chandy government.
