Kottarakkara, Kerala: In an interesting development, a Thrissur ACP informed a court that the original letter written by the accused in the solar scam case, while lodged in Attakulangara jail, did not mention former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy or any Congress leaders.

Thrissur ACP KA Muhammed Nisar gave a statement before the Kottarakkara First Class Magistrate Court-I in connection with a case alleging that former minister B Ganesh Kumar and the solar scam accused had conspired to include Oommen Chandy’s name in the letter.

The case dates back to 2013, when a complaint letter written by the accused led to the registration of a case at the Ernakulam Town North police station following directions from the Ernakulam ACJM Court.

Muhammed Nisar, who was serving as the station sub-inspector at the time, testified that only Biju Radhakrishnan and Shalu Menon were named in the original complaint letter. He stated that the complaint alleged threats from the two individuals.

According to the statement, the accused wrote the letter on July 19, 2013, while in the custody of the Perumbavoor police. The letter was handed over to advocate Feni Balakrishnan on July 24 and later forwarded to the court on July 28. Based on the court’s direction, police registered the case on July 29.

Advocate Sudheer Jacob had approached the court alleging that Oommen Chandy’s name was not part of the original letter and that four additional pages containing the names of Oommen Chandy and other Congress leaders were later fabricated and produced before the Solar Commission.

The court is scheduled to consider the case again on Saturday.
