Jail superintendent’s testimony suggests four pages were added later to the solar case letter allegedly to frame former CM Oommen Chandy.

Kottarakkara: In a major courtroom testimony during the Solar case trial, the Pathanamthitta District Jail Superintendent stated that the letter written by the accused, alleging sexual harassment, originally contained only 21 pages, not the 25 later submitted. Jail Superintendent Vishwanathakurup made this crucial statement before the Kottarakkara court, supporting the allegation that four pages were subsequently added to implicate former chief minister Oommen Chandy.
The superintendent also produced records showing that the accused had written only 21 pages. The accused, who was in police custody, was brought to the jail by the Perumbavoor DySP on July 20, 2013. During a body search, a 21-page letter was found. When she stated that the letter was meant for her lawyer, it was entrusted to her accordingly. On July 24, when her lawyer Feni Balakrishnan arrived for a visit, she handed the letter over to him in the presence of the superintendent, the official stated. The receipt acknowledging this was also submitted in court.
However, the letter submitted by the accused before the Solar Commission had 25 pages. Advocate Sudheer Jacob had filed a petition before the Kottarakkara court alleging that the additional four pages were later written and inserted as part of a conspiracy. It was alleged that the then minister Ganesh Kumar and the accused conspired to add these pages.
