Thrissur: The brawl between inmates at the Central Prison in Viyyur turned violent on Sunday. Three prison officials suffered injuries while trying to mediate.
The group led by notorious gangster Kodi Suni, a convict in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, is reported to be behind the attack.
The incident happened at around 1 pm. Initially, a brawl broke out between Suni's group and Thiruvananthapuram natives convicted in a murder case. Following this, the prison officials shifted Thiruvananthapuram natives to another building. Suni and his group later showed up at the building and attacked them.
Three prison officials suffered injuries while attempting to step in and stop them. The convicts reportedly used blunt objects to attack. The injured are later shifted to Thrissur Medical College.
