Thrissur: The Viyyur police have arrested the Assistant Jailor of Viyyur high-security jail for selling beedis to prisoners. According to officials, the arrested individual is Assistant Jailor Shamsudheen.

During an inspection led by the Jail Superintendent, beedi packets were found in his possession. Shamsudheen had sold a bundle of beedis worth Rs. 200 to prisoners for Rs. 4,000.

He had also faced disciplinary action in the past for illegally selling rice while working at the Central Jail.
