Kannur: BJP is coming out with new moves to strengthen its influence in Kerala. An attempt is made to reach the CPM power centers and meet the discontented party leaders in person and bring them closer to them.
In the wake of the fact that there was an erosion in the CPM votes towards the BJP in the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders are secretly seeing activists and supporters.
BJP has a special mission in areas like Kayyur, Karivellur, Thillankeri and Parapram which are considered to be the strongholds of CPM.
National executive committee member P K Krishnadas arrived a few days ago. He personally spoke to the workers who were mentally estranged from the CPM.
This kind of activity is being planned by the BJP across the state. And as a first step, it has started the move in Kannur. BJP is suggesting that it is growing in the state in such a way that it can reach a position where it can rule the state in the near future.
In the past, the BJP got only a handful of votes in some booths in CPM strongholds. However, in the last Lok Sabha elections more than hundred votes were received in many booths. BJP is looking into whether this situation can be used effectively.
The party is counting on winning the 2025 local body elections and the 2026 Assembly elections on the heels of its huge gains in the Lok Sabha elections.
What the BJP leaders have to say to the unhappy CPM leaders and workers is that CPM and BJP got one seat each in Kerala in the Lok Sabha elections. There was a decline in the CPM vote base. BJP came first in 11 Assembly constituencies and second in 18 constituencies. Suresh Gopi's victory in Thrissur is a clear indication that the political situation in Kerala is turning into a three-cornered fight.
