Kollam: One person has been arrested in connection with the attempt to torch the car owned by EMCC Managing Director Shiju Varghese on the day of Assembly election in the state.
The arrested, a quotation gang member, is a Thiruvananthapuram native and an accused in several cheating cases. It is also reported that he had worked as security guard to the woman involved in several controversial cases in the state.
Four persons had conspired to torch the car. The incident took place on April 6 at around 5.30 am.
As per reports, Shiju Varghese, who contested as the Democratic Social Justice Party candidate in Kundara, is also involved in the incident.
Fisheries Minister and LDF candidate in Kundara J Mercykutty Amma had alleged the incident as an attempt to sabotage the election and LDF votes.
