Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Minister for Food and Civil Supplies GR Anil said that Onam kits were distributed to 5,24,428 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) yellow card holders of the state as of Friday. 

According to the minister, Public Distribution Department (PDS) officials delivered  Onam kits for welfare institutions directly through mobile ration shops. The officials also directly delivered kits to tribal villages.

“Until September 1, as many as 5,10,754 Onam kits were distributed through the EPoS system. 8,162 kits were distributed to welfare institutions and 5,543 others to tribal communities. The distribution of the remaining kits is underway,” Anil said.  

The minister maintained that Onam kit distribution will continue on September 2.
