Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Baiju is facing legal action after his car hit a scooter rider, causing injuries, in a drunken driving incident. The accident occurred at the Vellayambalam junction late on Sunday night.
Reports indicate that Baiju was driving from the Sasthamangalam area when his vehicle struck the scooterist, who was approaching from the Kowdiar side. As Baiju attempted to turn his vehicle around due to a roadblock set up for construction, he lost control, leading to the crash.
The vehicle first collided with a signal post before hitting another post, eventually coming to a stop. The injured scooter rider was taken to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for treatment. Although Baiju arrived for medical examination in the case, he reportedly refused to provide a blood sample. Medical staff noted the smell of alcohol and informed the police of his non-compliance with testing.
The Museum police have registered a case against Baiju for reckless driving under the influence of alcohol. As the injured party has not yet filed a formal complaint, the police initiated the case on their own accord.
