Kasaragod: A sub-court here pronounced its verdict in a case concerning the alleged violence orchestrated by CPM workers after the election result of the Manjeshwaram assembly polls was declared.
Seven party workers, including a CPM area secretary, were found guilty in the incident that happened in 2016.
CA Zubair, a CPM Kumbla area secretary, was sentenced to a four-year jail term. While party workers Siddhique Karila, Kabir, Abbas Jaffar, Siju, Nissamudheen, and Farhan have been slapped with a two-year jail term.
The case is related to a violent attack unleashed by CPM workers against Muslim League activists in the aftermath of the 2016 Assembly polls in Manjeswaram. The attack happened when Muslim League workers were celebrating the electoral victory of PB Abdul Razak.
