Shimla: Tourists, including several from Kerala, remain stranded in Himachal Pradesh as heavy rainfall and landslides continue to batter the region. The group includes 18 people from Kerala, five from Tamil Nadu and two from North India. The landslide occurred on Saturday as the group was travelling to Shimla. They are currently stranded in the village of Kalpa.

Among the group, three individuals reportedly have health concerns, including breathing difficulties and ambulance support has been requested. Due to ongoing landslides and severe weather, reaching Shimla airport would require air force assistance.

The tourists have appealed for airlifting, as the road journey from Kalpa to Shimla would take approximately eight hours, which is not feasible under current conditions. Limited food and water supply has further increased their concerns.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, one of the stranded tourists, Sharukh from Nilambur, said Kalpa is a small village and any shortage of essentials would pose serious difficulties for the 25-member group. He also mentioned that they were returning from their trip when the landslide occurred, forcing them to cancel train and flight tickets.

Sharukh added that more landslides have been reported in the area, although the group is currently safe. He confirmed they have reached out to BJP leader Shawn George and BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar for help.
