Lucknow: A total of 173 villages across 13 districts have been impacted by flooding in Uttar Pradesh.
The overall flood condition remains normal and under control, with local administrations fully mobilised to evacuate affected residents to safe zones whilst supplying food, medical assistance, and essential relief goods, the official stated.
In an official statement, the Office of State Relief Commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod noted: "So far, 173 villages in 13 districts have been affected by floods. These include Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Barabanki, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Sitapur and Unnao."
Roughly 84,362 people and 13,058 hectares of land have been impacted by the swelling waters.
The central control room at the Relief Commissioner's Office is maintaining round-the-clock contact with the impacted districts to track developments, with grievances and alerts logged via the 1070 helpline being addressed without delay.
More than 4,800 residents from flood-hit regions have already been relocated to safer ground.
Relief Commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod conducted a review of the flood situation alongside rescue and relief operations on Tuesday, according to his office.
Yashod instructed district magistrates to transfer affected residents to relief camps or alternative safe accommodations as necessary.
He further ordered authorities to guarantee the provision of food, healthcare facilities, and critical supplies for affected households, while keeping every flood monitoring post fully operational. Directives were also issued for the continuous tracking of river water levels and flood trends, alongside ensuring sufficient supplies of boats, motorboats, emergency response personnel, and other equipment.
A network of 1,589 flood outposts has been established throughout the state to safeguard affected populations.
Furthermore, 1,263 flood shelters have been made ready, of which 41 are presently active and housing 1,045 individuals. To date, 4,845 people have been evacuated from inundated zones to secure locations.
Operational assets deployed for the relief effort include 428 boats and motorboats along with 1,101 local divers. Authorities have so far distributed 15,238 food-grain relief packages and 30,316 packed lunches to affected residents.
To handle potential emergencies, 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) contingents have been positioned across the state. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) units have likewise been assigned to various districts, while Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel have been stationed across 52 districts.
According to data from the Relief Commissioner's Office, 140.52 crore SMS alerts were dispatched between August 1 and August 18, 2026, to convey meteorological warnings to the public.
Additionally, guidance regarding flood prevention and disaster safety is being consistently disseminated through social media platforms, the office added.
