Kochi: CPM state secretary M.V Govindan said that the LDF are not the beneficiaries of the letter written by the solar case complainant.
Addressing the media in Kochi on Wednesday, Govindan said that it is up to the people to determine the credibility of the statements made by the broker Nandakumar. I do not think there is a need to respond to such baseless allegations, he added.
Earlier today, Nandakumar had come forward with allegations that the letter in question was released to the public after consultation with VS Achuthanandan and Pinarayi Vijayan. It was through Nandakumar that the letter containing sexual assault allegations against Oommen Chandy came out. However, the CBI report fails to provide any evidence to substantiate the claim made by Nandakumar.
However, Govindan remarked that there is enough evidence to prove that the Home Ministry, during the tenure of the UDF government, had conspired to oust Chandy. He also added that the party had not made any gains by releasing the letter. The intervention from the LDF forced the government to launch a judicial inquiry into the case.
He claimed that UDF's efforts to hold the LDF government responsible by citing the CBI report had backfired. Since they didn't have any response, they staged a walk-out after the adjournment motion, Govindan added. He alleged that Congress avoids inquiry to prevent internal feuds.
