While eyewitnesses suggest the driver may have been intoxicated, police are investigating and reviewing CCTV footage to confirm details.

New Delhi: A food delivery worker was killed in the early hours of Saturday after being struck by a speeding car in the Subhash Nagar area of West Delhi, local authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 3 am when the victim, identified as a Zomato delivery executive, was reportedly hit by a fast-moving vehicle. According to Delhi Police, the impact was fatal, and the driver of the car has since been taken into custody.
Investigators have seized the vehicle involved, and a formal probe is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. Some eyewitness reports from the scene suggested the driver may have been in an inebriated state, though police have not yet officially confirmed those claims.
Rising Road Fatalities
The tragedy marks yet another fatal collision in the national capital, coming just days after a similar incident in Dwarka South. In that case, a man lost his life after his motorcycle was hit by a car allegedly operated by an unlicensed juvenile near Lal Bahadur Shastri College.
Status of Investigation
As of Saturday morning, police officials stated they were scanning CCTV footage from nearby establishments in Subhash Nagar to reconstruct the sequence of events.
"Police have taken the accused into custody and seized the car," a Delhi Police spokesperson said. "Further investigation is underway."
The victim was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby but was declared dead on arrival. His identity has not yet been formally released to the public pending notification of his family.
