Senior YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh and his brother Jogi Ramu were arrested in Andhra Pradesh over allegations of manufacturing and selling spurious liquor

Amaravati: Senior YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh and his brother Jogi Ramu were arrested on Sunday by Excise Department officials in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the alleged manufacture and sale of spurious liquor. Both were produced before a local court following their arrest.
According to official remand reports, the accused were apprehended after authorities explained the charges related to illegal manufacture, transportation, import, and sale of adulterated liquor. The Chief Minister criticised the arrest, terming the action ‘illegal’.

The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of liquor-related offences in Andhra Pradesh. Jogi Ramesh, a senior leader of the ruling YSR Congress Party, and his younger brother were taken into custody after officials claimed they were involved in illicit production and distribution of spurious alcohol.
The Excise Department stated that all legal procedures were followed during the arrest, including informing the accused of the charges. Following the arrest, both individuals were produced before a local magistrate.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the action, asserting that the arrest was politically motivated and illegal. The case is expected to draw significant political attention, given Ramesh’s position within the ruling party.
