Bengaluru: Norka Care’s health and accident insurance scheme, offering medical coverage to over 4 lakh people, came into effect on Monday. The scheme is being implemented by Norka Care in association with New India Assurance, benefiting both domestic and overseas Malayali expatriates.

Under this group policy, a family consisting of parents and two children can get coverage for an annual premium of ₹13,411. As of October 31, a total of 1,02,524 families have enrolled in the scheme.

All those who have already registered are now covered under the policy. Since the registration deadline has been extended till November 30, more people can still join the scheme. Holders of the Norka Identity–Accident Insurance Card (NRK Card) can register directly for Norka Care. Applications can be submitted through the Norka Roots website (norkaroots.kerala.gov.in) or via the Norka Care mobile app.

Those who haven’t yet obtained an NRK card can apply now and will receive an e-card within 24 hours. Using the details from this card, they can then register for Norka Care. Once the application is submitted and payment made online, the Norka Care e-card will be issued immediately. The e-card can be used whenever medical treatment is required.

The insurance provides treatment coverage up to ₹5 lakh, along with accidental death coverage of ₹10 lakh.

Ayush treatments are covered up to ₹50,000, and cataract surgeries are covered up to ₹30,000 even without hospitalisation. Individuals up to the age of 70 years can enroll, and pre-existing diseases are also covered. Another major benefit is that there is no waiting period for claims.
