Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Opposition in the Assembly, accusing it of vote bank politics and silence over alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, while warning against illegal migrants and encroachments.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on December 2,4 raised the issue of violence and alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh during proceedings in the Assembly on the final day of the winter session, launching a scathing attack on the Opposition over what he described as selective outrage driven by vote bank politics.
Addressing the House, Yogi alleged that a Dalit youth had been brutally killed in Bangladesh, but the Opposition chose to remain silent. “A Dalit youth was killed in Bangladesh, but you shed tears only for Gaza. This is nothing but vote bank politics,” he said, drawing sharp reactions from the Opposition benches.
‘Dalits Seen Only as a Vote Bank’
Escalating his attack, the Chief Minister accused Opposition parties of viewing Dalits merely through an electoral lens. “In this Assembly, you see Dalits only as a vote bank, which is why you don’t speak out. A young Dalit man was burned to death in Bangladesh, yet your tongues are sealed. You cry over events in the Gaza Strip, but not a single word comes out when Hindus are targeted,” Yogi said.
He further alleged that what he termed an “appeasement-driven mindset” had historical consequences. According to him, the creation of Bangladesh was rooted in such policies, adding that had the region not been separated earlier, “Hindus would not have faced such atrocities.” Yogi claimed that people in Bangladesh were themselves aware of the difficulties faced by minorities there.
‘Candle Marches for Gaza, Silence on Hindus’
Referring again to international protests, the Chief Minister said the Opposition regularly holds candlelight marches over conflicts like Gaza but avoids condemning the killings of Hindus in Pakistan or Bangladesh. “Because the deceased is a Hindu, you refuse to speak. You should have at least brought a resolution condemning the killing,” he remarked.
Warning on Illegal Migrants and Rohingyas
Yogi also issued a stern warning on illegal immigration, particularly concerning Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. “Remember this—when we expel Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, do not support them. You have sinned by getting Aadhaar cards made for many Bangladeshis. We will take very effective action,” he said, alleging that crimes were being committed against Indian citizens due to illegal infiltration.
He added that minorities, including Hindus and Sikhs, were facing persecution in neighbouring countries, calling it a serious humanitarian concern that could not be ignored.
Firm Stand on Encroachments
Earlier in the session, the Chief Minister reiterated his zero-tolerance policy on encroachments. “I assure you, whoever occupies any monument or mythological place—no matter who they are—I will not spare them,” Yogi said, reaffirming his government’s stance on protecting religious and historical sites.
