A video showing Varun Dhawan performing pull-ups inside a Mumbai Metro coach recently went viral, sparking reactions from the metro authorities. The actor had shared the clip to celebrate the success of his film Border 2, but the Maharashtra Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) publicly criticised the act, highlighting safety and legal concerns.

MMMOCL reminded commuters that grab handles in metro coaches are meant for support, not hanging or stunts. The authority cited sections of the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002, stating that such actions could be punishable and may attract penalties or imprisonment, depending on the seriousness of the offence. The post on X (formerly Twitter) humorously advised, “This video should have come with a disclaimer like the ones in your action movies, Varun Dhawan – Do Not Try This On Maha Mumbai Metro.”

The incident also drew public attention on social media, with many users backing the metro’s stance and urging responsible use of public infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan continues to enjoy the success of Border 2, which released on January 23. The film, based on true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, stars Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh alongside Dhawan, and showcases the unity and strength of the Indian armed forces.

Authorities emphasised that while fun and celebrations are welcome, public safety must always come first. The viral clip serves as a reminder that even celebrities are accountable to laws and civic norms when using shared spaces like the metro.
