New Delhi: The Union Cabinet is scheduled to meet on Wednesday for the first time since the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to begin at 11 am.

There was no Cabinet meeting held last week following the attack. However, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had convened on April 23 and strongly condemned the incident.

Following the CCS meeting, India announced a series of measures in response to the cross-border links to the attack. These included downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan, expelling Pakistani military attachés, suspending the over six-decade-old Indus Water Treaty, and shutting down the Attari land-transit post with immediate effect.

Today’s Cabinet meeting is expected to take stock of the situation and review the progress of the measures already announced.
