New Delhi: A major security response was activated at the New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday after authorities received information about an unattended bag found at gate number 8.

According to officials from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the alert was raised at 7:55 am, leading to the immediate dispatch of a fire tender and the mobilisation of bomb disposal and dog squads to the location.

“This raised suspicions and we rushed a fire tender to the site,” a DFS official said. As of the latest update, no suspicious contents have been found in the bag, but a thorough search operation remains underway to rule out any threat.

Bomb detection units and trained sniffer dogs are scanning the area as part of standard protocol. Authorities have not issued any evacuation orders but are continuing to monitor the situation closely.

While such incidents often turn out to be false alarms, they are taken seriously due to past instances of security breaches at high-traffic public transport hubs.

Police and emergency services are expected to release a full report once the bag and surrounding area have been completely cleared.

This latest scare underscores the ongoing concerns around unattended items in crowded public spaces and the need for heightened public vigilance.
