Bengaluru: A man from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh has been secured for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat email to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru. Police said the investigation revealed that he has a history of mental illness.

According to police, ISRO headquarters received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises. Treating the threat seriously, police and security personnel rushed to the location and carried out a detailed search.

However, no suspicious object or evidence of an explosive device was found during the inspection, confirming that the threat was false.

Following a complaint filed by an ISRO administrative officer, the Sanjay Nagar Police registered a case and formed a special investigation team to trace the sender.

Using technical analysis and digital evidence, investigators tracked the email to Ghaziabad, where the accused was identified and taken into custody.

Police also seized the electronic device allegedly used to send the threatening email. A forensic examination confirmed that the device had been used to send the bomb threat to the ISRO headquarters.

During the investigation, police found that the accused has a history of mental illness.

"The electronic device used to commit the offence has been seized, and further investigation is in progress," police said.

Responding to the recent hoax bomb threat, Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge said the government remains vigilant against such incidents.
