Noida: Ordering your favourite sandwich should be a treat — but for a Noida resident, it turned into a nightmare. Satish Sarawagi was horrified to discover a plastic glove stuffed inside his sandwich ordered from Salad Days through Zomato, sparking outrage online.

Sarawagi had placed an order for two sandwiches — a broccoli, corn, and basil pesto sourdough baguette and a smoked cottage cheese and pepper sandwich. However, when he bit into one, he found a disposable glove hidden between the bread and fillings.

Shaken, he posted pictures of the contaminated food on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Zomato and demanding action:

“@zomato @zomatocare, I ordered a sandwich and found a glove inside the food! This is unacceptable and a serious hygiene concern. Please investigate and respond ASAP.”

The disturbing images quickly went viral, triggering a flood of angry reactions. Some users slammed the delivery giant, calling it “third-class service,” while others sarcastically commented, “Good to hear they at least used gloves.”

Zomato promptly responded, saying it was “absolutely shocked” by the incident and assured Sarawagi that the matter would be taken up with the restaurant partner. Salad Days also issued a statement, confirming that the kitchen had been “flagged for urgent review” and that a full investigation by the quality assurance team was underway.

However, the outrage hasn’t died down. Social media users demanded stricter food safety checks, with some even calling for the restaurant’s closure. Others questioned whether Sarawagi had received any real help, with one writing: “It’s been over a day. Did you get any support from Zomato or Salad Days?”

The case has reignited concerns over hygiene and accountability in India’s booming food delivery industry, with many asking: If gloves can go inside sandwiches, what else is slipping through unnoticed?
