Around 90 flights to operate from UAE to India as partial airspace reopening eases travel.

New Delhi: Around 90 flights are scheduled to operate from the UAE to India on Sunday, as authorities step up efforts to maintain connectivity amid ongoing disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict.
Flights from Saudi Arabia and Oman to India are also continuing, ensuring the movement of passengers despite regional airspace restrictions. With the partial reopening of airspace, Qatar Airways is expected to operate 9–10 additional non-scheduled flights to India.
Airspace disruptions, alternate travel routes
Airspace in Kuwait and Bahrain remains closed, impacting regular flight operations. However, Jazeera Airways has resumed services to India via Al Qaisumah Airport in Saudi Arabia, while Gulf Air is operating special flights from Dammam to facilitate passenger movement.
Due to restrictions in Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq, Indian nationals are being rerouted through Saudi Arabia, ensuring continued evacuation and travel support.
India monitors maritime trade and seafarer safety
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said it is closely monitoring shipping operations, port activity and seafarer safety, ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade during the crisis.
More than 547 Indian seafarers have been repatriated, including 13 in the past 24 hours. Authorities confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, with no incidents reported involving Indian-flagged vessels.
Currently, 22 Indian-flagged ships with 611 Indian crew members remain in the western Persian Gulf, with continuous monitoring by the Directorate General of Shipping. A 24/7 control room is operational, handling thousands of calls and emails from seafarers and their families.
Port operations are normal, Govt coordination is ongoing
Port operations across India remain smooth and congestion-free, with State Maritime Boards confirming normal functioning. Authorities are coordinating closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian missions abroad to ensure seafarer welfare and uninterrupted logistics.
Over 3.5 lakh passengers return to India
The government said that since February 28, over 3.5 lakh passengers have returned to India from the Gulf and West Asia region. Indian missions are operating round-the-clock helplines, assisting students, workers, stranded nationals and short-term visitors.
While six Indian nationals have died and one remains missing, missions in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq and the UAE are coordinating with local authorities for repatriation and assistance.
Officials reiterated that the safety, security and welfare of Indians abroad remain the top priority, with continuous monitoring of developments in the Gulf region and West Asia.
