The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday set aside the anticipatory bail granted to former judge Giribala Singh in the high-profile Twisha Sharma death case, delivering a major development in the ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. The court ruled that the earlier bail order issued by a Bhopal sessions court could not stand in light of the allegations and facts presented.

In its detailed 17-page order, vacation judge Devnarayan Mishra observed that the anticipatory bail granted on May 15, 2026, by the 10th Additional Sessions Judge in Bhopal under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, is hereby quashed. The court also allowed the applications seeking cancellation of the bail.

The case stems from the death of former model-actor Twisha Sharma, who was found hanging at her marital home on May 12. The CBI has since taken over the investigation and re-registered the FIR, naming her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh as accused.

The High Court, while cancelling the bail, emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and the need for proper investigation. The order effectively reinstates the legal pressure on the accused as the CBI continues its probe into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.

Senior advocate Anurag Shrivastava, representing the victim’s family, welcomed the decision, calling it a step toward justice in the case. He also urged Giribala Singh to cooperate with the investigating agency, noting her long tenure in judicial service.

Earlier on Wednesday, a court in Bhopal sent Samarth Singh to CBI custody for further interrogation. Soon after, the CBI team took him to Giribala Singh’s residence in the Katara Hills area as part of its ongoing investigation.
