One of the two terrorists killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Gurez sector last week has been identified as Bagu Khan, infamously known as the "human GPS." Khan, also referred to as 'Samundar Chacha,' had been on the security forces' radar for decades due to his involvement in over 100 infiltration attempts since 1995.

According to officials, Khan’s extensive knowledge of infiltration routes across the Line of Control (LoC) made him a key facilitator for terror groups. His ability to navigate these secret paths without detection earned him the nickname "human GPS."

A Pakistani identity card found on him identified Khan as a resident of Muzaffarabad, Pakistan. Sources confirm that he had ties to the terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen.

On August 23, Khan was killed when security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt along the LoC. Army officials reported that alert troops spotted suspicious movement and confronted the intruders. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Bagu Khan and another terrorist were neutralised.
