Train services disrupted in Southern Railway due to fire near Tiruvallur; multiple cancellations, diversions, terminations.

Chennai: A fire incident near Tiruvallur on July 13 (Sunday) has forced Southern Railway to shut down the overhead power supply as a safety precaution, resulting in widespread disruption to train services. Efforts to contain the fire are underway, but the impact on operations remains significant.
Full train cancellations from Chennai
Several services originating from Dr MGR Chennai Central were fully cancelled on 13 July:
- Vande Bharat Express (20607) to Mysuru
- Shatabdi Express (12007) to Mysuru
- Kovai Superfast Express (12675) to Coimbatore
- Shatabdi Express (12243) to Coimbatore
- Saptagiri Express (16057) to Tirupati
- Double Decker Express (22625) to Bengaluru
- Brindavan Superfast Express (12639) to Bengaluru
- Nagarsol Express (16003) to Nagarsol
- Coimbatore Intercity Express (12679)
- Coimbatore Vande Bharat (20643)
Inbound trains to Chennai, including Kovai Superfast (12676) and Shatabdi Express (12244) from Coimbatore, were also fully cancelled.
Trains short-terminated mid-route
Due to the disruption, several trains were halted mid-journey and short-terminated:
- Mangaluru Central Express (12602) at Kadambathur
- Nilgiri Superfast (12672) and Kaveri Express (16022) at Thiruvalangadu
- Cheran Superfast (12674) and Superfast Mail (12624) at Arakkonam
- Express (12686) from Mangaluru at Mukundarayapuram
- Yelagiri Express (16090) at Gudiyatham
- Superfast Express (12696) from Thiruvananthapuram at Katpadi
- Ashokapuram Express (16552) near Krishnarajapuram
- Coimbatore Vande Bharat (20644) and Intercity Express (12680) at Salem
- West Coast Express (22638) at Katpadi
Multiple train diversions implemented
Several long-distance trains were diverted from their scheduled routes:
- Kacheguda – Chengalpattu Express (17652) rerouted via Kanchipuram
- Thiruvananthapuram – Shalimar Express (22641) via Renigunta with a halt at Tiruttani
- Chennai – Mumbai Superfast (22158) via Gudur and Renigunta
- Chennai – Vijayawada Express (20677) via Gudur
- Danapur – SMVT Bengaluru (12296), Patliputra – SMVT Bengaluru (22351), and Lucknow – Yesvantpur (12540) diverted via Gudur, Renigunta, Melpakkam
- Tatanagar – Ernakulam Express (18189) via Gudur and Renigunta
- Ernakulam – Patna Superfast (22669) via Melpakkam and Renigunta
- Sangamitra Express (12295), Jasidih Express (22305) and Patna Humsafar (22354) also rerouted with additional stoppages at Tiruttani
- Vijayawada – Chennai Vande Bharat (20678) via Gudur
- Lokmanya Tilak – Karaikal Express (11017) and Tiruchchirappalli – Ahmedabad Special (09420) rerouted via Arakkonam
