The Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway has announced diversions for two express trains on select dates in October due to maintenance works in the Madurai Division.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway has announced temporary diversions for two express trains on select dates in October 2026 due to maintenance works in the Madurai Division.
The changes will affect 16128 Guruvayur–Chennai Egmore Express and 16321 Nagercoil–Coimbatore Express. Both trains will operate through alternative routes on specified dates and will skip several regular stops. Additional stoppages have also been arranged along the diverted routes.

Guruvayur–Chennai Express
Train 16128 Guruvayur–Chennai Egmore Express, which is scheduled to leave Guruvayur at 11.15 pm, will be diverted on October 11, 13, 15, 20, 22, 25, 27 and 29.
The train will run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi and Tiruchchirappalli. During the diversion, it will not stop at Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul and Manapparai.
To accommodate passengers along the alternative route, additional stoppages will be provided at Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikkudi and Pudukkottai.
Nagercoil–Coimbatore Express
Train 16321 Nagercoil–Coimbatore Express, scheduled to leave Nagercoil at 8 am, will be diverted on October 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, 26, 28 and 30.
The service will run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Tiruchchirappalli and Karur. It will skip Tirumangalam, Tirupparankundram, Ambaturai, Madurai, Dindigul, Sholavandan, Eriodu, Palaiyam and Kodaikanal Road during these journeys.
The diverted service will instead have additional stoppages at Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai and Tiruchchirappalli.
What passengers need to know
The diversions are applicable only on the specified dates and have been introduced because of maintenance works in the Madurai Division. Passengers travelling on the affected services should check the revised route and stoppages before their journey.
Those who normally board or alight at Madurai, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road and other affected stations should make alternative travel arrangements on the specified dates.
The latest train information should be checked before departure, as railway operations can be subject to further changes.
