Goods train fire near Tiruvallur station. Firefighters extinguished blaze; no casualties reported. Train operations affected.

Tiruvallur: A major fire broke out early Sunday morning on four wagons of a goods train carrying diesel near the Tiruvallur railway station, triggering panic in nearby areas. The incident occurred around 5:30 am, with towering flames and thick black smoke seen billowing from the affected wagons.
Firefighters and emergency teams reached the site swiftly and brought the blaze under control after an intense effort. Officials confirmed that there were no casualties or damage to surrounding property, though the situation posed a serious risk due to the highly flammable nature of the cargo.
The train, which was travelling from Manali to the Tirupati region, caught fire as it neared Tiruvallur, prompting authorities to evacuate residents from nearby areas as a safety precaution.
Train services to and from Chennai were disrupted as a result of the fire, with railway authorities working to resume normal operations. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway.
