New Delhi: Passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport reportedly protested after the air-conditioning system failed inside a SpiceJet flight scheduled to fly to Pune, with the cabin becoming extremely hot after passengers had boarded.

According to media reports, passengers had taken their seats when they began experiencing discomfort because the aircraft's cooling system was reportedly not functioning properly. Instead of cooling the cabin, the heating system appeared to come on, making conditions increasingly uncomfortable.

Some passengers reportedly felt unwell as the temperature inside the aircraft rose. Following the protest, the aircraft doors were opened, and passengers were asked to deboard.

Several passengers expressed anger after leaving the aircraft and sought action from the airline over the incident.

The incident came days after a serious safety incident on August 4, 2026, involving Air India flight AI2379, operated by an Airbus A320neo carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members. Cruising en route from Phuket to New Delhi, the aircraft experienced a sudden 300-foot altitude drop over Odisha, resulting in injuries to passengers and crew members.

In the incident, injuries were reported to 20 passengers and 4 cabin crew members, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) said in a statement on Tuesday.
