Former India cricket captain and ex BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s brother Snehasish Ganguly and sister-in-law were rescued after a speed boat they were travelling in capsized off the coast of Puri beach in Odisha.

The incident occurred after the vessel carrying four tourists reportedly hit a high tide and overturned in the deep sea on Saturday evening. According to a CNN News18 report, other tourists aboard the boat alleged that the operator ignored safety warnings. One of the rescued passengers, Ganguly’s sister-in-law, had reportedly alerted the boat staff about the high tide, but her concerns were dismissed. All passengers were brought to safety by lifeguards soon after the mishap.

The tourists have accused the operator of negligence and have urged the district administration to take strict action against the private company responsible for operating the boat. They claim that the incident could have been avoided had proper safety protocols been followed.

Further investigation into the conduct of the boat operator and safety measures in place is expected.
