BJP leader and filmmaker Shankudeb married a TV journalist in a traditional Bengali ceremony, putting years of relationship rumours to rest. The wedding was attended by guests from politics, entertainment and the media.

BJP leader and filmmaker Shankudeb Panda has tied the knot with Swarnali Mita Sarkar, Deputy Executive Editor of Republic Bangla, in a traditional Bengali wedding ceremony, putting years of speculation about their relationship to rest.
The couple got married on Sunday evening in the presence of family members and guests from the worlds of politics, entertainment, and the media.
Panda wore a bright red kurta and dhoti for the ceremony, while Sarkar looked resplendent in a red Banarasi saree adorned with traditional gold jewellery.
Ahead of the wedding, the couple celebrated their ‘gaye holud’ ceremony. Panda opted for a mustard-yellow kurta and dhoti, while Sarkar complemented him in a yellow saree paired with floral jewellery. Photos from the celebrations have since surfaced on social media.
Panda and Sarkar had been the subject of relationship rumours for the past few years. Their wedding has now officially confirmed the long-standing speculation.
Apart from his political career, Panda is also an active filmmaker. He recently announced his upcoming directorial venture, 'Abhaya Shakti', inspired by the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case. The film, produced by Rana Sarkar, is scheduled to begin shooting in August.
Speaking about the project, Panda said it would present several developments related to the case that have emerged over time, describing it as 'more than just a film' and 'the focal point of a movement.' While he has not revealed the cast, he has said the film will feature actors from Kolkata as well as outside the city.
With the wedding celebrations now over, Panda is set to begin work on his next film while embarking on a new chapter in his personal life alongside Sarkar.
