Thiruvananthapuram: Journalist and television actor Rageesh Raja has passed away at the age of 47 following a cardiac arrest.
Raja, who served as a local correspondent for Asianet News in Kattakada, was diagnosed on August 28, 2026 with Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy (AMAN)—a severe and rapidly progressing variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).
He was initially admitted for medical care at Ananthapuri Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. As his condition required specialised management, he was transferred to KIMSHEALTH hospital on September 4, 2026 for advanced treatment.
Alongside his career in journalism, Raja was a familiar face on television screens across Kerala through his roles in serials.
Colleagues, media figures, and members of the arts community have paid tribute to his contributions to both local reporting and the television industry.
His funeral is scheduled to take place this evening in his hometown of Kattakada.
