Uttar Pradesh: In preparation for Juma-e-Wida, the last Friday of Ramzan, security has been significantly increased in Sambhal, a city marked as sensitive due to past incidents. Following the November 24 violence, police and administrative officials have stepped up surveillance to prevent any disturbances.

With past incidents of violence in mind, the administration has divided the city into six zones and 13 sectors, enforcing strict guidelines to ensure peaceful prayers at designated locations.

The city has been divided into six zones and 13 sectors, with zonal and sector magistrates deployed to monitor the situation closely. Rapid Response Force (RRF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and local police are actively patrolling mixed and densely populated areas to ensure law and order.

Strict guidelines for prayers

Authorities have laid down clear directives for conducting Juma-e-Wida prayers:

  • Namaz will only be offered in mosques and Idgahs; no prayers will be allowed on streets, rooftops, or open spaces.
  • Government loudspeaker guidelines must be followed to prevent any violations of noise regulations.
  • Market restrictions: Vehicle entry will be closed on Dakkhana Road from Tandon Tiraha to prevent overcrowding.

On Thursday evening, City Kotwal Anuj Tomar led a security foot march through key market areas, including Sarafa Bazaar, Changmal, and Nakhasa Tiraha, accompanied by police, PAC, and RRF personnel.

Religious leaders call for peace and harmony

Ahead of the prayers, Imam Maulana Aftab Hussain Warsi of Shahi Jama Masjid issued an appeal urging people to pray for peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony. He reminded worshippers to offer namaz only in mosques and avoid gathering on roads or public spaces.

Echoing this message, Qari Maulana Rashid Ali emphasised the importance of patience and unity during the holy month. He urged people to stay away from rumours and ensure that the Juma-e-Wida prayers reflect the spirit of peace and togetherness.

With these preparations in place, officials remain vigilant to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Juma-e-Wida in Sambhal.
