Sourav Ganguly and wife Dona have approached Kolkata Police after receiving letters containing serious threats to their lives and safety.

Kolkata: Former India cricket captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and his wife, Dona Ganguly, have approached the Kolkata Police after allegedly receiving death threats, officials said on Monday.
A complaint was filed by Ganguly's personal assistant after two threatening letters, addressed separately to Sourav and Dona Ganguly, were received at the office of the Bengal cricket president.
According to the complaint, the letters contained serious threats to the lives and safety of the couple and those working with them.
The latest communication was reportedly written in English and used aggressive language, including a threat to 'eliminate' the cricketer and his family.
Family sources said similar letters had allegedly been arriving for around six months.
The earlier communications were not taken seriously, as they were believed to be expressions of personal resentment. However, the nature of the latest threats prompted the family to seek police intervention.
The written complaint was lodged at Thakurpukur Police Station, while the state government's security department has also been informed.
The complaint urged the police to identify the person responsible and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of Ganguly, his wife and their staff.
Police have begun an investigation into the matter and are taking security measures for the former India captain and his family.
