The IMD has issued rain alerts for Delhi-NCR, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka and several northeastern states. Authorities have urged people to stay updated through official advisories as weather conditions evolve.

Parents and students have been advised to check updates from their schools and local district administrations before leaving for school, as announcements may be made at short notice depending on the intensity of rainfall.

Delhi rain

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday morning, prompting the IMD to issue an orange alert for moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds through the day.

Showers were reported from areas including Rafi Marg, Raisina Road, Firozshah Road, Kautilya Marg and RK Puram, slowing traffic during the morning rush hour.

The rainfall brought relief from humid weather, with Delhi recording a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius.

The IMD said active monsoon conditions are likely to persist over north India over the next few days, increasing the possibility of intermittent showers across Delhi-NCR.

Residents have been advised to exercise caution while commuting, particularly in waterlogged and low-lying areas.
